Term 6, 2022

This term our learning theme is "Where shall we go today?". During our learning theme we will be learning about some of the natural wonders of our world and where they are located in the world and how we can look after our natural world. We will be exploring floating and sinking and the properties of different materials. We will be learning about some similarities and differences between things in the past and now with a focus on the seaside.

Here are some of the stories that we will be using to support our learning.

Pirate Wow Day!

Robin Class had great fun learning how to be pirates and they all passed their pirate training with flying colours! We started the day with a pirate catwalk to show off our outfits, followed by pirate cupcake decorating and parrot making. A mysterious letter arrived in class asking for our help to find Pirate Blackbeard's hidden treasure and we set off all around the school to follow the clues, eventually leading us to the woods where we found the X marking the right spot! Everyone enjoyed singing some pirate songs, practising walking the plank and climbing the rigging. We played some pirate games outside and got very competitive playing 'launch the cannonballs' in the race to see which team had got the most hits! Well done Robins you were fantastic today!! Thank you for the brilliant costumes!

Beach Buddies Visit

We were lucky to have a visit from the RNLI Beach Buddies team to tell us all about how to stay safe at the seaside. Everyone enjoyed a puppet show, learnt all about what the different flags that we see on the beach mean and thought about what are the most important things to take to the beach.

Pilot and Cabin Crew Visit

Robin class were very lucky to have a visit from Mr Thorne and his sister to talk to the children about their job as a Pilot and Cabin Crew. They brought in lots of different things to share with the children that they use on the planes for their jobs. The children listened really carefully to what they were being told as well as asking questions. We then followed some instructions to fold our very own Easyjet paper aeroplanes which we got the chance to fly when the Capitan gave us our call sign which was Robins 1,2,3. All of the children were very excited to take home their flight bags with lots of gifts and activities from the visit.
