Governor Profiles
Catherine Jeffes Parent Governor and Chair of Governors I moved to Claverham a few years ago from London with my 2 children and husband, Adam. My daughter and son both attend Court de Wyck and are very happy here! Outside of my role as Governor, I am a Primary Teaching and Learning Lead for Cathedral Schools Trust, which has 6 primary schools across Bristol. My role is to support schools with the implementation of the school priorities and to recruit and train teachers who are new to the profession. I really enjoy being a Governor for Court de Wyck as I think it is very important that people in education provide support and challenge for each other in such a complex, and often misunderstood, profession. It also provides me with an opportunity to learn about education in a different Trust and a smaller setting. |
Kath Panes MAT Appointed Governor and Co-Vice Chair of Governors I have been a governor for 5 years. I have lived in Claverham since 1975 and have 3 grown up children who attended Court de Wyck in the 80s. My career was in education where I was head of department for Adult Education at Weston College until semi-retirement when I was part of the Further Education Teacher Training team at City of Bristol College. My interests in the school are lead governor for English, History and Geography and oversee Admissions. This keeps me in regular contact with the workings of the school. Although my teaching career was largely focused on adults, I have always maintained an interest in primary education, latterly through the schooling of my 6 grandchildren who attend different schools around the Bristol area. |

Barbara Hook Foundation Governor My association with Court de Wyck began in September 1990 when my eldest son started in Reception. I was on the PTA for 6 years and was also a volunteer reader during the ten years my children were part of the school. I joined the governors following my retirement from my role as the Hearing Services manager with an NHS trust. I felt that I wanted to give something back to the school which had given my sons such a well-grounded primary education that enabled them to move through the secondary and then the tertiary system. I believe that the role of primary education is to provide a solid foundation that empowers children to fulfil their potential. The school vision of belonging, growing and achieving together enables that empowerment. I am currently one of the Foundation governors. |
Sarah Cush MAT Appointed Governor I was initially appointed as a Parent Governor in 2004 when my oldest child was in Year 1. I transferred to the role of Foundation Governor a few years later and now, after three terms of office as a Foundation Governor, I have recently become a MAT Appointed Governor. Over my time as a Governor I have taken on a wide variety of roles including chairing the Resources and Ethos committees. I think it is important to show our interest in and appreciation of the school for our children in any way we can. I chose to join the governing body as I was interested in how the school functions and the amount of behind the scenes organisation involved. I am a qualified accountant and take a keen interest in the school budget and monthly accounts. |
Ben Hewett Parent Governor I have one child in Year 6 at Court de Wyck and another who recently left to move to secondary school. Both my children have had a brilliant time at the school and my family have enjoyed becoming part of the Court de Wyck community. I value this opportunity to become more involved with the school as a governor and to be able to give something back to the school. I have worked in education for over 25 years, as a primary teacher and more recently as a headteacher. Having worked in church schools I have a particular interest in special educational needs and also how school ethos is developed to support the young people in its care.

Richard Perrett Foundation Governor I have two children at Court de Wyck and was appointed as a Foundation Governor in 2023. So far, I’ve enjoyed being part of the governing committee and supporting the school and the leadership team as they continue to drive improvements. Outside of my role as governor, I’ve worked in communications for the past 10 years and currently work for a global energy solutions provider. My focus has always been internal/employee communications but recently have branched out into recruitment marketing and social media. Much of my time is spent writing (strange for someone with a maths background!) from social media posts to strategic communications plans. I’m often also the one bringing various people and teams together, so their various projects and initiatives have the best chance of success. I’m also a Cub and Beaver leader at Cleeve, Claverham & Yatton Scouts so get to see many of the school’s pupils there too. |
