Music

At Court de Wyck Church School, we use Charanga to support our Music Curriculum.

Charanga provides primary schools with the foundation to deliver a creative programme of high-quality classroom music activity. It sets out the skills, knowledge, and understanding to be gained by all pupils at each stage of learning, including the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Charanga’s Music curriculum, represents a progressive set of teaching resources that meets the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (Expressive Arts), the National Curriculum for Music and suggested approaches of the Model Music Curriculum (Singing, Listening, Composing, Performance/Instrumental Performance).

Covering a broad and diverse range of repertoire, approaches, and musical traditions, Charanga Music supports a fully-integrated approach to musical development, connecting the interrelated strands of singing, playing, performing, composing, improvising, listening, and appraising.

Alongside this, we have whole class instrumental lessons provided by the North Somerset Music Service. Rocksteady Music School provide music lessons each week for those who are interested in learning an instrument.

At Court de Wyck, we sing together daily as part of our Collective Worship.  Every week we learn and develop our singing through Singing Worship.

We have a school choir who performing at Holy Trinity Church at Christmas and during our school Easter service.

Each class has opportunities to sing as part of a performance.  Robin, Owl and Goldfinch perform Christmas Nativities.  Kingfisher and Kestrel put on a Summer Production.

Rock Steady Music School

Jamie from Rock Steady Music School came to talk to us about bringing Rock Steady Music lessons to Court de Wyck Church School. We enjoyed his performance, demonstrating how to play each of his instruments and joining in with the songs.
