Terms 3 and 4

In term 3 we will be basing our learning around the text

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson.

This geography based topic will include learning the names and locations of continents, oceans and the countries of the UK, as well as countries and capital cities within the UK.

Our science work will be focused on habitats.

We will be looking at the work of Matisse in Art.

Our class is achieving highly in the school Reading Challenge - keep reading Owls and lets beat our reading targets this term! no

In term 4 we will be moving on to sharing Rudyard Kipling's Just So stories. We will be using film as a starting point for our learning and writing our own Just So story.

We are looking forward to our trip to Bristol Zoo too! We will be learning more about animals and their habitats.

Term 4

This term we are basing English work around Just So stories and linking it to our habitats work in Science. Then in the second half of the term we will be looking at traditional tales and internalising and innovating the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We are all going to be story writers!

World Book Day 2017

We all celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We had a classroom full of characters such as Mr Twit, Matilda, Harry Potter and the witch from Room on the Broom (guess who that was!). The most exciting part of the day was taking part in the Reading Mannequin Challenge! It was so much fun watching the video back as well! Can you spot Where's Wally in every place around school?

Stay Safe!

In Owl Class we have been talking about staying safe. We had a visit from the NSPCC where we met Buddy the speech bubble, talked about who trusted adults might be and learnt the Childline phone number using our fingers to remember the number.

We also have been talking about Stranger Danger and what to do to stay safe.

E Safety Day

This years E-Safety Day was on 7th February. We talked about staying safe on line and how we can ensure we are always safe. We all wrote our own rules about staying safe too. We are all taking it in turns to take home our E Safety bag and puppet. We have been taking photos and sharing with the class how we can stay safe on line as a family.

Our trip to Bristol Zoo!

At the end of February we went to Bristol Zoo for the day. We had a great day out and enjoyed finding out about the habitats different animals live in and why. Some of us even held a hissing cockroach!

Science Week 2017

During Science week we took part in our whole school challenge of How does exercise effect our brains? We planned and carried out an investigation by working in groups to see which group could remember the most after different activities. One group exercise, one group played board games and the other group rested! We had some surprising results! We wondered if the exercising group ran our of energy!
