Happy New Year!
This term our whole school topic is 'Celebrate China!'
This is a Geography focused topic with our question being -
'Where would you prefer to live: England or China?'
We will be finding out about China this term and then celebrate Chinese New Year with the rest of the school before the half-term break.
Our class text is The Magic Paintbrush by Julia Donaldson.
We will be learning the skills needed to write a diary, as well as writing lists and captions.
Our science work is around the Seasons with our question being -
'Why does it get dark earlier in Winter?'
If you have any resources we could use with our 'Celebrate China' topic then please bring them in to share! Thank you!
Chinese Fruit Salads!
We designed and made Chinese Fruit Salads. We had great fun tasting and selecting which fruits we were going to use. But the best part was eating them!
Visit to St Barnabas Church
We enjoyed our walk and visit to St Barnabas Church. Rev Jo shared the story of when Mary visited Jesus’ tomb and he appeared to her. We enjoyed listening to the story and creating our own pictures to show Mary and Jesus in the garden.
The Weather
In science we have been learning about the weather. We talked about different types of weather and what information is given on a weather forecast. We then became weather presenters and did our own weather reports.
Life Bus
We had a visit from the Life Bus. Owl Class enjoyed learning about feelings and our emotions.
Safer Internet Day
We discussed how we use the internet at home and at school. We all spoke about how we make sure that we are safe on line and reminded ourselves of how to use Hector the Protector.
Owl Class Assembly
We loved preparing for and performing in our own assembly in front of the school and our families and friends. We explained our learning from this term with our Celebrate China theme. Look at the photos below. We had great comments from our visitors too!
