They will also explore magnets, learning:
Magnets attract some materials (mainly metals).
Magnets have north and south poles.
Opposite poles attract; like poles repel.
Magnetic forces can act without direct contact.
Children will carry out practical investigations and develop skills in predicting, observing, recording, and concluding, while discovering how magnets and forces are used in everyday life.

How do we know what happened? How reliable is the evidence? What is the legacy? We will be learning about Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes.

Geography
Space and Scale: Europe
As geographers, children will learn about the world’s seven continents - Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica. They will develop their knowledge of using an atlas to locate Europe and name countries within it. They will locate the UK within Europe and know that we live on this continent.
Developing this knowledge, they will begin to reference European countries in relation to each other using the compass and state their location in Europe. Children will spend time identifying human and physical features within Europe and will explore famous landmarks. They will use atlases to locate capital cities of European countries.
The Environment
As geographers in Term 6, children will embed their learning about the location of Mediterranean countries, such as France, Italy, Greece and Spain and know that they are on the same longitude as shown on a globe. They will identify the country/countries' location in relation to the globe – northern and southern hemisphere.
They will learn that the Mediterranean biome is known as Mediterranean and is characterised as hot dry summers, mild and rainy winters with woodlands and shrubs. They will compare this to England temperate biome which is characterised as mild climate with seasonal variation receiving heavy rainfall with mixed woodland.
Children will ask, Why do people visit the Mediterranean? They will compare living in a Mediterranean country to living in the UK.
