Term 5

This term our new learning theme is 'What is at the bottom of the garden?' We will be exploring planting and growing, discovering minibeasts and visiting a farm. We will also be thinking about how to keep our bodies healthy and the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet.

These are some of the texts we will be sharing...

Week 1 update

It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school this week. They have been so excited to see each other and share their news. This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from PCSO Sellars who came to talk to the children about her job and role in the community. They particularly enjoyed trying on some of the different hats that she had brought to share with us and seeing the lights and hearing the siren on her police car as she left.

Week 2 Update

Robins had a very hot but lovely day at the Community Farm this week. We enjoyed wandering around the farm and trying some of the food they grow, solving animal riddles, looking for minibeasts, pond dipping, planting peas and of course, running and playing the in long grass.

Week 3 update

This week the children enjoyed being Historians learning about and celebrating VE day. We had our own VE day celebrations creating bunting that you will have seen on your way into school, decorating VE day biscuits, playing traditional games like marbles, hopscotch and pick up sticks, listening music from the time and finishing it off with our own mini tea party.

Week 4 Update

This week we have enjoyed watching our bean plants grow and we have been busy planting peas and sunflower seeds. We can't wait to watch them grow and are looking forward to tasting our peas. In our maths learning we have been learning about bonds to 10, using our 10's frames and dice frames to help us visualise 10 and find how many more are needed to make 10. We used our fine motor skills to cut our fruit pictures to make bonds to 10 fruit kebabs and played the game 'don't burn the sausages' to see how many of our sausages were burnt (black) and how many were ready (white).

Week 5 Update

What a busy week it has been in the last week of term! We have had class photos and our geography open morning. It was lovely to welcome lots of families into school to share our learning about maps, through the story of "What the ladybird heard". We had a fantastic football session with Luke and Ben from LKPD coaching. Thank you all, for you coin donations that allowed Robin class to win this years Court de Wyck coin trail. We are looking forward to our prize which is afternoon tea with Mrs Baker Brown. And finally this years fun run. What a fantastic afternoon. Thank you for coming along and supporting your child and our fundraising efforts.
