Owl Class

Welcome to Owl Class! We are Year 1 and 2 and we love to learn together.

Mrs Baker-Brown and Mrs Bingham are our class teachers.

Mrs Chaplow is our Teaching Assistant and Mrs Rowe teaches us on Wednesday afternoons.

Mr Varley is our Sports Coach. We have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What to bring to school everyday

  • Reading record and reading book
  • Book bag
  • Named water bottle
  • Named jumper or cardigan
  • Named coat
  • Fruit
School fruit is provided daily and includes pears, apples, bananas, tomatoes, carrots and raisins. However, as we do not know what will arrive each day you may want to provide a healthy snack for break time to ensure your child has something they like. This can be a piece of fruit or a fruit or cereal bar (NO chocolate bars or crisps).
Please note that we are also a nut free school.

Spelling Homework

Please see below for this terms spellings. Each week, the spelling rule will be introduced and practiced daily.  Our Spelling test will be on Friday.
Learning spellings can be fun – you can practice lots of different ways (you do not always have to use your homework book) e.g. use chalks, use different colours, write in shaving foam or sand.  Start with one word a day.

Reading

It is really important you try to read with your child at home as much as possible. Please try and hear your child read every day and record in their reading record when you have read with them. For our whole school reading challenge, we count all the reads that your child does with an adult in school and at home.
Reads are counted at the end of each week and the children will gain different certificates for the number of reads they achieve throughout the school year.

Times tables

All children will have a login for TT Rockstars and Numbots, a fun, interactive website to help them learn basic maths skills and timetables.
Their logins will be in their reading record books.
We are able to set the correct timetables for your child and monitor usage.

Timetables are a crucial part of maths and we carry out our school times tables challenge on Fridays and awards are given when the children pass a level.
