Geography

At Court de Wyck, our aim is to ensure that all of our children receive high quality teaching in Geography and through this develop knowledge of our local environment, the wider environment and internationally. We use Curriculum Maestro to inform our progression, skills, and planning.

Our Geography Curriculum focuses on the key skills of:

Locational knowledge
Place knowledge
Human and physical geography
Geographical skills and fieldwork
Aims and purpose of geography

We also use our geography skills to explore our School and local environment, as well as going on field trips further afield.

In our Crew groups we support a charity in the Dominican Republic and this helps us to develop our knowledge of different cultures.

KS2 Field Trip to The Community Farm, Chew Valley

Using map skills in Y5/6 to locate local farms. They used previous learning and their new knowledge of farms to use the contour lines on the map to decipher the type of farm.
