Mental health and wellbeing are at the heart of our school community. We are committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of our children, families and staff, creating a nurturing environment where everyone feels safe, valued and able to thrive.

We are fortunate to have an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) working in school one day each week. They provide tailored support for individual children and families, as well as delivering wellbeing groups for pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2.

We also have a trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who works closely with children who may need additional emotional support. Through individual and small-group sessions, our ELSA helps children to develop emotional awareness, build self-esteem, manage worries and anxieties, develop social skills and navigate challenges they may face both in and out of school.

To help all children understand, express and manage their emotions, we use the Zones of Regulation throughout the school. This approach provides a shared language for discussing feelings and equips children with practical strategies to regulate their emotions, build resilience and support their overall wellbeing. Together, these approaches help ensure every child feels supported, understood and ready to learn.
