Curriculum Design

At Court de Wyck, we have designed a bespoke curriculum for all foundation subjects that is ambitious, carefully sequenced and tailored to the needs of our pupils. Each subject identifies the essential knowledge, vocabulary and skills that children need to learn, ensuring that learning builds progressively from one year group to the next.

Our curriculum is designed to help pupils retain learning over time. Teachers regularly revisit and review previous learning through retrieval practice, spaced repetition and carefully structured opportunities for recall. These approaches support pupils in securing key knowledge, making connections between concepts and developing a deeper understanding of each subject.

Teachers deliver the curriculum consistently, enabling pupils to build on what they already know and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Through ongoing curriculum monitoring, pupil discussions and the quality of work produced, leaders evaluate how effectively the curriculum is being implemented and the impact it is having on pupils' learning.

As pupils move through the school, they become increasingly confident in discussing their learning, using subject-specific vocabulary accurately and making connections across different areas of knowledge. Their work demonstrates clear progression and increasing depth of understanding, ensuring they are well prepared for future learning and the next stage of their education.
